Chazara, Again.

Chazara, Again.

If anybody feels like I’m stressing chazara too often; there’s no such thing as chazering too much…

In the autobiography of Rabbi Yitzchak Tuvia Weiss Shlita, Gaavad Yerushalayim, he tells of an encounter he had with the Mirrer Rosh Yeshiva, Rav Eliezer Yudel Z”l. At the time Rav Weiss was teaching gemara to young bachurim, and the Rosh Yeshiva asked him if he has any “good talmidim“.

“What’s a good talmid?” He asked.

“A good talmid“, said Rav Eliezer Yudel, “is one that knows half of shas.”

“Nah, these are young bachurim” Rabbi Weiss countered, “it’s impossible to expect that from them”.

“Well then, do they at least review what they learned fifteen times? If they do, they’re good talmidim…”

Rabboisai! Do I have any good talmidim?

I guess I can work on making myself into a “good talmid“…
